In addition to his role at Resilient, Bill maintains an active role with Alsop Louie Partners, an early stage venture capital company, where he was a Partner before joining Resilient full-time.  Prior to Alsop Louie Partners, he was the founder, Chairman of the board and CEO of Cassatt Corporation, an enterprise software and services company acquired by CA in 2009. Bill founded and was the first Chairman and CEO of BEA Systems. Under his leadership, BEA became the fastest software firm ever to exceed $1 billion in annual revenue.  As vice president of system software at Sun Microsystems, Coleman's team transformed SunOS into the commercially successful Solaris operating system. While at Sun he also founded Sun's Professional Services Division and co-founded Sun's Federal Division. He began his career in the U.S. Air Force where he served as chief of satellite operations in the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force. He is a member of the board of directors of Resilient Network Systems Inc., iControl Networks Inc., Framehawk Inc. and Business Executives for National Security.

Bill holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from the U.S. Air Force Academy and master's degrees in computer science and computer engineering from Stanford University. He also has an honorary doctorate from the University of Colorado.
